Vavilala Samstha, a non-profit oriented registered Society was established in the year 1981 in Guntur town of Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh, India (“the Samstha”). The Samstha has taken up the library science and rural development as its core objectives. Samstha was established with the help of funds arranged by Sri. Vavilala from the pension he used to get from the Government. Initially, a library consisting of about 6,000 invaluable books personally collected by Sri. Vavilala. Library has got books on World Bank, its reports, many economic forums, major irrigation projects, language and culture, etc., using the said books, so far, 74 people have got their PhDs’. Subsequently, with an intent to wider the objects of the Samstha, the founders have arranged a own premises and established a library with many more books and also set up “Vavilala Grandhalaya Sastra Paathasala”, a school for imparting library science course. Since the year 1994 till date, Samstha is conducting two batched per year certificate courses in library science and has got gold medals for several times.
Keeping pace with the fast moving world, Samstha is stepping into several new arenas with a single object to serve society directly and indirectly by imparting various knowhow to the public in general and by organising several seminars, symposiums and intellectual gatherings. Samstha has recently stepped into the orbit of “Skill Development” and is looking forward to keep pace with several fraternities in order to achieve its objectives.
Reason behind the new approach :
Guntur district is a well-known 'educational hub' of Andhra Pradesh. It has got innumerable medical & engineering colleges, business
development schools (BBA, MBA), ITIs' in addition to the degree colleges and training institutes for competitive exams for banking
jobs, civil services, etc., There are so many graduates from Guntur who have been to several developed nations on the globe and
proved their metal including in USA and the UK . So far, due to the centralised capital market in Hyderabad, people from Guntur
used to join in coaching centres located at Hyderabad for an easy access to the job providers.
But, due to the reorganisation of the erstwhile States of Andhra Pradesh into two States i.e., the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad remained with Telangana State and Guntur was chosen as the capital district for the newly formed State of Andhra Pradesh. The Government of Andhra Pradesh chose a place in the Guntur district and named it as "Amaravathi" . The Amaravathi has to be built from the scratch including the government buildings, Courts of law to the facilities for administration and governance.
To build the said buildings, Government had engaged so many foreign agencies, including architect firms from the UK. It is also expected that lot of job opportunity would be created in this process. At the same time, as the entire establishment would take place to run a State, in this scenario, Samstha has conceptualised imparting necessary training programmes including soft and hard skills, in order to help the local educated people to get a job in and around their localities itself, without migrating outside the Guntur district. To attain this object, Samstha has stepped into skill development arena and is looking forward to take it to sky-high with the enormous support of the fellow Indians, either resident or non-resident.
