He had to wear khadi as part of a new discipline. He had none at home. He spotted a piece of khadi cloth wrapped around a bundle of hay at the house of a peasant, Adusumilli Narayana. He instantly exchanged it for his mill cloth and donned the khadi cloth. It was his first interface with political protest. that young boy was Vavilala Gopalakrishnaiah.

Breaking The Shackles Of Slavery

In Sattenapalle town, Guntur District, people observed hartal (Protest). Men & Women participated in numbers in a public meeting organised to condole the death of their leader. Students of town moved out in a procession to join the public meeting And heading the procession was a 13 year old student, named Vavilala Gopalakrishnaiah. That was his initiation into political struggle.
